Each of the 4 different modes shown below must be Mode Selected with the M-SEL button for the HUD Cues (carets) to appear.Â
When TOS (Time Over Steerpoint) is Mode Selected, a caret is displayed on the HUD speed tape to ensure that you reach the steerpoint at the planned time. The ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) to the steerpoint is also displayed in the HUD. When TOS is not mode selected, no caret is active on the HUD speed tape and the ETE (Estimated Time Enroute) is diplayed in the HUD. TOS is the default Mode Setting.
When RNG (Range) is Mode Selected a caret is displayed on the HUD speed tape to display optimum speed for fuel conservation based on the current altitude. Fuel remaining when reaching the active steerpoint and wind direction and speed also displayed on this page.
When HOME is Mode Selected, two carets are diplayed in the HUD on the speed and altitude tapes establishing the best profile speed and altitude to reach Home Plate (or any selected steerpoint designated as the home point). The DED page also shows the optimal radar altitude (which may be different than the HUD scale) and calculated fuel remaining at the home point.
When EDR (Endurance) is Mode Selected a speed caret is placed on the HUD tape to give reference speed for best endurance at the altitude. Further information given is time to bingo, optimum Mach number and wind.
